		<description>There are some lovely chuncky knit patterns available at the moment, which knit uo really quickly, and you couldn&#039;t crochet them, because they would look ridiculous. Anything on 8mm needles or above.

Also remember that crochet and knitting, are nothing more then distant cousins, like painting &amp; sculpture, everyone has their own preferance, and yes knitting is slower, but then, if you prefer the results then it is worth the time. 

As others have mentioned, if you want to give them something that they couldn&#039;t crochet, buy some nice varigated yarn, and knit some socks, the stripes will show in a way that they never would with crochet (&amp; knitted socks are much more comfortable) what&#039;s more is that socks are quick. I work full time, but manage to knock out up to 2 pairs a week (on a good week).
