I run an online craft and crochet group called. There is a wonderful lady in my group named Teresa. She has made over 300 u-tube videos to help people crochet. I find that watching them over and over before I try a new stitch along with the video helps. Here is a link to her.

Lion Brand Yarn has a great crochet tutorial section on their website. The pictures are large and well drawn, so you can see what it supposed to be happening with the yarn as well as your hands. They take you through the basics and into some of the intermediate skills. That will give you what you need to know to do most basic patterns.

I realize that this is not an online resource but there is a really good book that you may be able to find at the library called “Teaching yourself Visually: Crocheting” it is intended for beginners and provides lots of really good tips like basic stitches, joining, how to read a pattern and other really good stuff. It even has a few cute patterns to try out. I included a link below of the book at Amazon, there are a few pages for viewing whats inside.

As others have said, there is nothing like seeing someone actually work the stitches. You Tube is a great resource. Also, Annie’s Attic has some videos as does Nexstitch.com . You can purchase a DVD at many craft stores like Michael’s and Hobby Lobby. That said, if you want online tutoring, check out my web site Crochet Cabana at . I try to include lots of photos in every tutorial. Perhaps a combination of videos and print. There are many good how to books as well.
