I always have several projects going, but part of the reason why it's slowed down is because my little boys and my husband don't like it when I crochet. My husband wants me to spend the time with him (he works about 70+ hours a week) and when he's not home, I am with my two little boys (ages 2 and 4). I can't sit down and do anything with my hands without having them want me to put it down. This makes it so the only time I have to crochet is late at night and that's when I want to be asleep too. :) I do get the impression that skills such as crochet, knitting, and sewing are considered "dated" and that's why they don't seem to be as popular as they used to be. I love to crochet and am usually working on something. I usually give away the items I complete. I love to see people's faces when they receive the gift. I live in the desert and it is way to hot to work with yarn. In the winter I make large blankets. I make about 4-7 blankets, depending on the sizes. But they are a big deal, I have a waiting list. I learned how to crochet as a young child and have liked doing it ever since. My girls are now into it too. my Sister in law crochets all the time. Most of us do crochet a few things a month, I always do at least one, but I also knit and cross stitch so my time is divided among those too.
