Broaden Your Marketing Reach through Bumper Stickers

by Buck Thompson on November 26, 2009

Using bumper stickers is one of the easiest and most inexpensive marketing tactics. Especially, if you want to go local (i.e. target customers at a location) or target a niche segment (like moms in 25-35 range), this can really work out well. It can cost you as little as 25 cents per sticker and give you lot of mileage! Want to know more? Read on.

Before we move on, let’s understand what bumper stickers are. A bumper sticker is an adhesive label or sticker with a message, intended to be attached to the bumper of an automobile and to be read by the occupants of other vehicles – although they are often stuck onto other objects.

You can easily spread your word with bumper stickers as people generally notice such stickers when they go to a parking lot, or while following a car and also when they are on road and your car passes by. So even without your being there, you are able to create a ‘touch point’ with them.

You can get bumper sticker made as per your requirements. Though there are no set rules but you should keep few things in mind. Don’t make them too big as then people will refuse to put them on their cars and if it is too small, it will hardly get noticed. You can get them made the way you want.

This flexibility does have some drawbacks. A sticker with just your logo or a lot of text, or a sticker trying to oversell your product will not appeal to the crowd. It can only help you if it is able to connect with the people. It should be funny, catchy, and helpful to them in some way. It should click with their ideas and it would be ideal if it allows your audience to express themselves through them.

Imagine how wonderful your customers would feel that by just putting your sticker on their bumper, they are actually expressing themselves. Innovation is the secret for success here. Let your customer use your bumper sticker and do the marketing for you.

You can put tips (cookery tips if you have a cooking class) or corroborate any other message on the bumper sticker for marketing. You can even change with the current trends. For instance, design stickers about support to a particular sports group or even for various sports group. In fact you can make them for each of the rival sports groups too! You can do the same with politics also (like for presidential elections) but be careful in doing that.

You can use some other techniques to make your sticker more viral. Making it in less quantity and designing it as a status symbol would increase its popularity. Everyone would like to have it to show it off. As the number of people noticing it increases, so would the demand for them. Wouldn’t it be just wonderful!

Use bumper stickers responsibly. And use it cleverly. They will reward you with lots of referring customers and profits.
